GERMPLASM BANK | WHY CONSERVATION?

Conservation of plant species is not an altruistic act. All conservation activities, which include maintaining a Germplasm Bank like ours, are directed at keeping a balance in our ecosystem. Such efforts will enable humans to maintain their current way of life.

Furthermore, selfishly speaking, plant species represent a never-ending resource. Even now, many of them remain unknown to us. Worldwide, many people spend their time searching for new medicines, raw materials or foods, which we can use in the future and which can be found in plants.
